Destiny: Written?

What is destiny? Simply put, destiny is what will happen tomorrow. But is tomorrow already written, leaving us with little or no control over what happens? This question came up during a discussion where a red card was issued within the first 15 minutes, which was quite rare. The reason was that the initial participants largely believed that destiny is already written and beyond our control. AiR intervened with a powerful thought: If destiny is already written, where is free will? If everything is predetermined, then our choices and actions today would have no meaning. AiR repeatedly emphasizes that Karma is reformative, not punitive. Even death is not a fixed destiny. We come with an open ticket, without a predetermined date of departure. The concept becomes clearer when we...

Bengaluru, September 2026. For a city better known for start-up valuations, deadlines and traffic, September 24 offered something different. More than a dozen voices from cinema, public service, business, spirituality and wellness met on one stage to ask a simple question: what does it really take to be happpy? The World 3 Ps Happpiness Summit 2026, billed as India’s first, was held at New Horizon College of Engineering (New Horizon Knowledge Park), Bengaluru. It was hosted by Happpy AiR — Atman in Ravi, the city’s Happpiness Ambassador. The extra “p” in Happpiness is deliberate. It stands for the three pillars at the heart of Happpy AiR’s philosophy: Pleasure, Peace and Purpose. What it was The World 3 Ps Happpiness Summit was a full-day programme of keynotes, panels and reflective sessions...

Is a Perfect Life a Myth?

Many of us believe that life is a journey of ups and downs—Sukh and Dukh, happiness and sorrow, success and failure. We often attribute these experiences to our karma, believing that what happens to us is a consequence of what we have done in the past. Life is full of challenges, and perhaps that is simply the way life is meant to be. In practical life, there seems to be no such thing as a perfect life. Life is like a bouquet of roses and thorns. There are moments of joy, achievement and celebration, but there are also moments of pain, disappointment and struggle. Some people even say, “70% of my life is perfect.” But think about it—if 70% is perfect, it also means that 30%...

Can worldly responsibilities and spiritual growth coexist?

The question was simple, but the discussion that followed was anything but simple: Many participants on the call answered in affirmation. Of course, they can. We can have a family, a career, responsibilities and ambitions, while continuing our spiritual journey. Then AiR nudged us with a simple but powerful question: “If that is so, why did Siddharth, who became Gautama Buddha, leave his home?” That question changed the direction of the conversation. A few participants then argued that perhaps worldly responsibilities and spiritual growth cannot truly co-exist. Yet there was another apparent contradiction. The AiR philosophy does not prescribe sannyasa or renunciation of worldly life. So, what exactly are we missing? The discussion reminded me of a hockey team that had managed to enter the penalty area but simply...

The difference of being emotional and being intelligent

Some cricket matches start slowly, with the game gradually building momentum. There may be very few boundaries in the beginning, with players patiently scoring singles and understanding the conditions. As the game progresses, the momentum builds and the pace picks up. Today, Zoom seemed to be having one of those slow starts, quietly accumulating singles until half-time. Being emotional means allowing the mind and its impulses to take control of our actions. In such a state, the mind behaves like a monkey, jumping from one thought to another, reacting to situations, worrying about the past, fearing the future, and constantly seeking something outside itself for happiness. Intelligence, on the other hand, is the state of consciousness, being like a monk. The difference can also be understood through...

WHAT IS TRUE FREEDOM?

Today, as India celebrates its 80th Independence Day, we celebrate freedom from external rule. But there is a deeper freedom that every human being must discover, the freedom from our own inner bondage. The body, mind and ego create the walls of this prison. We remain bound by the triple sufferings of life, the fifteen monsters of fear, stress, anxiety, worry, anger, hatred, greed, jealousy, revenge and other forms of negativity, as well as karma and the cycle of birth and death. So, what does true freedom look like? First, it is Sat-Chit-Ananda. A liberated person is established in peace, love and bliss. Second, there is freedom from the fifteen monsters that disturb the mind. Third, there is freedom from karma and, ultimately, freedom from the...

Inner Success Vs Outer Success

The conversation began with a simple yet profound question: What is success? We often define success through the outer world — money, position, power, recognition, possessions and achievements. We measure ourselves by what we have accomplished and how others perceive us. But is that really success? AiR’s famous statement, “Success is NOT Happpiness, Happpiness is Success,” offers a powerful shift in perspective. Outer success may bring pleasure, recognition and temporary satisfaction, but these are inherently unstable. The outward journey is a continuous swing between pleasure and pain, gain and loss, praise and criticism, success and failure. What we achieve today can become the source of anxiety tomorrow because the outer world is constantly changing. The inward journey is fundamentally different. It is a journey of self-discovery, awareness...

What is the connection of service and spirituality?

Service is often seen as an act of kindness, a way of helping others or creating good karma. But there is a profound connection between service and spirituality. In fact, we can think of service as the foundation of spirituality. Not every service is spirituality. Service becomes spirituality when the sense of “I” begins to disappear. When there is self in service, it is good karma. When service becomes selfless, without expectation of recognition or reward, it becomes spirituality. Service is therefore not merely something we do; it is a path through which we can attain enlightenment. There are three levels of service. Level 1 is service as good karma: we serve with the intention of doing good and receiving good results. It is valuable and creates positive...

Does God really have a plan for everyone’s life?

Does God really have a plan for everyone’s life? Let us step back and understand what a plan means. A plan is a blueprint or method or course of action designed to achieve an objective. God cannot have a separate plan for every individual. Man creates individual plans; God has created one universal plan. That universal plan is enlightenment, the journey towards Moksha. God (SIP) has provided knowledge, scriptures, Gurus and countless opportunities to help us discover this truth. At the same time, we have been given free will. When we exercise it independently, we become subject to the Law of Karma and experience its consequences. The non-awakened person does not recognise God’s plan. The awakened person realises God’s plan. The enlightened person goes one step further...

WHAT’S WRONG IN HAVING A FAMILY,CHILDREN , GRAND CHILDREN, GREAT-GRAND CHILDREN?

The call began with an interesting debate. A few seekers felt that having a family—children and grandchildren—is almost a sure-shot way of getting trapped in attachment and, therefore, in the cycle of birth and rebirth. Those with families offered different perspectives. Some agreed that family responsibilities and emotional attachments can become hurdles on the spiritual path. Others felt that spiritual progress and family life can comfortably coexist. Buddha was cited as an example of how family attachments could become a hindrance on the spiritual journey, while Lord Krishna was cited as an example of how having a family need not be an obstacle to spiritual realization. One seeker brought the discussion back to the AIR philosophy of DIALS—being a Dedicated Divine Instrument, Awakened, Living the AIR Philosophy,...
